THE SEVENTH ARTICLE OF THE CREED

from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

71. (Q) What is the seventh article of the creed?

(A) The seventh article of the creed is, from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
(E) The seventh article talks about the second coming of Jesus Christ: he shall come to judge the living and the dead.


 

72. (Q) When will Christ come again?

(A) Christ will come again from heaven at the last day, to judge all mankind.
(E) This last day, no man knows the day, time, or year. This day is known to him alone.


 

73. (Q) What are the things Christ will judge?

(A) Christ will judge our thoughts, words, works, and omissions.
(E) Christ will judge our thoughts: what we think and how we think, is it for the good of our neighbour? or bad. Our words: what we say to people, does it hurt or encourage them. Our works, including the corporal works of mercy and spiritual works of mercy? And omissions, what we fail to do that is our duty.


 

74. (Q)What will Christ say to the wicked?

(A) Christ will say to the wicked: Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, which was prepared for the devil and his angles. Matt. 25:41
(E) Everlasting fire was prepared for the devil and his angel, but those whose thoughts, words, works, and omissions are evil as judged by Christ will go to hell.


 

75. (Q)What will Christ say to the just?

(A) Christ will say to the just: Come, ye blessed by my Father, possess ye the kingdom prepared for you
(E) Those who do what God required of them are the Just. Matt. 25:34-37


 

76. (Q) Will everyone be judged at death, as well as at the last day?

(A) Everyone will be judged at death, as well as at the last day: it is appointed unto men once to die; and after this, the judgment.
